DCUMC Free Medical and Dental Mission 2020
The Daegu Catholic University Medical Center (DCUMC) from Daegu,South Korea in partnership with Payatas Orione Foundation, Inc. (PAOFI) conducted a 4-day Medical and Dental Mission in Fr. Angelo Falardi Health Clinic, Payatas, Quezon City last January 6-9, 2020.
The activity was carried out by the volunteer doctors, staff and medical students of DCUMC headed by Dr. Stephen Ryu Jaekeun together with the medical staff and personnel of PAOFI’s Fr. Angelo Falardi Health Clinic.It provided free consultation in different specialties in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dental and General Surgery. Aside from free consultations, medicines, multivitamins and other important laboratory services were also provided for free like ultrasound, ECG and 2D Echo using portable devices they brought from Korea. During the 4-day Free medical and dental mission, a crowd of people eagerly waited outside the clinic. Both young and old patiently waited for their turn. Almost 2,000 patients were treated and served during the mission.
The partnership of DCUMC and PAOFI started since 2008 when the first Medical and Dental Mission was held in January 2008. It was successful event and it helped thousands of people in improving the health and lives of underprivileged people in Payatas and nearby areas who have limited or no access to the basic medical health and dental necessities. Since then, it has become a tradition that every two years, they organized a group of volunteer doctors, medical students and staff to conduct a 4-day medical and dental mission to help the poor people in Payatas.
We would like to thank all the volunteer doctors, dentists, staff and medical students of the DCUMC who shared their time, skills and resources in making this endeavor to help the less fortunate residents in Payatas. Special thanks to Fr. Michael Park and Fr. Johan Kwon for preparing and organizing this meaningful event. We would also like to mention all the hardworking PAOFI Staff and Fr. Angelo Falardi Health Clinic personnel and volunteers who worked continuously during the mission.
